When I saw this book being shared around on Facebook, I wanted to read it. The plot is set out nicely in the blurb. However, when you get into the story, you'll be shocked by the way this story knocks you around on your butt.
Have you ever done somersaults in a pool before? Have you ever done them so fast that you barely seem to catch your breath before flipping in the water again?
That's what this book did to me as I read it. No more than do I let out a breath, something hits the fan and I'm dying to find out what it is. The trials that these characters have to go through, well, it's short of heartbreaking. By that, of course, I mean, the pieces that have already shattered from their story. Fate can be a bitch sometimes, but the real bitch is the people not wanting to see others happier than themselves. That's what this book showcased for me, in my eyes.
Izzy and Axel went WAY way back... A beginning that was robbed from them. A beginning that shattered both completely. Life over the years has not been kind to either of them, but they keep pushing... for what they don't know, maybe just pure stubbornness on their parts. Their journey is breathtaking in the best and worst way possible.
There was a point when I thought the anger and sadness would swallow them whole and their second chance at having what was robbed from them would be gone. The tears I shed, the laughter I laughed, the amount of times I chewed my nails in nervous anticipation... Oh so worth it in the end.
I've always been a Harper Sloan fan, but this book sealed it for me. Wow! Just wow! I'm about half way through book 2 and can hardly put it down (only when I have to). You need to read this book, for sure!
